Chatham Tuna Bite - 2007/09/19 17:17 Have been going South east and finding lots of fish 50+. Going this Friday looks like a decent NW Wind should really get the fish going. Has anybody been having any luck? A good friend was fishing this past monday, all over the fish accept when the seas started to pick up and it was time to head home, the motor stalled. Poor guy had water in his tank. nothing like trying to change out a fuel filter in rough seas and no filter wrench. Luckily he had a spare and that even cloged. However enough gas was able to pass through to allow him to limp home. He is very lucky.

Re:Chatham Tuna Bite - 2007/09/21 10:19 Good luck out there! Please let me know how you did and when and where you found the fish if you don't mind. I am heading out on Monday as the weather, tides, moon etc all appear to be lining up nicely. If you are going out on Monday too, let me know and we can work the radio to cover more ground etc.

Take care,
Al

Re:Chatham Tuna Bite - 2007/09/23 07:34 No Luck, Fog was pretty thick, finally made out to the sowrd. Whales everywhere, I trolled over, behind, in front, next to them and nothing. I did see a few guys boat some, not that big under 50 in. Then around 9am the bit turned off, no one was doing anything. I heard a report that the schools were not with the whales. The guys that caught them looked like green machines no bird. I also heard alot of fish by the BB.

Good Luck on Monday

Re:Chatham Tuna Bite - 2007/09/25 14:00 Same here on Monday. No luck. The seas were bigger than predicted so it was harder to find signs of life (and longer to get out there so we missed 1st light).

We started to troll about 15 miles east of the tip of Monomoy and trolled all the way to the BC bouy. We did see a small pod at the BC but it quickly dissapeared. The only positive was the schools of Bonito that we ran into on the way back about 10-12 miles east of the tip.

All in all it was a nice day on the water but many miles covered and no hook ups.

Better luck next time I suppose.

Thanks,
Al
